  1. Modifications required

    For my chargriller replacement, several modifications were required to make it work. First, the screen at the gas entry was removed because it impeding proper air flow at the intake. Second, the gas outlet holes were very slightly increased with a drill to conform to the size of the original pipe. Third, there was a 3x3 inch metal shield behind the igniter that was causing a short circuit during attempted ignition; this metal shield was removed to prevent the short circuit. And fourth, the ignition holes in the pipe were inadequate to transfer the spark to the gas. With a hacksaw, the holes were connected to provide a slot at the ignition point. All is now working well, but it took considerable effort to get there. Essentially, my modifications were necessary to get my particular chargriller (about 12 years old) to work like new.
